About Us
The idea for establishing a social housing organisation was initiated by the Daughters of Wisdom and Jean Quinn D.W. in response to the many religious and lay persons who greatly wanted to help those on the margins of our society in a creative way. The dream was about people on the margins having a better way of life, a more equal way of life. We wanted to make a difference.
Sophia Housing Association is a collaboration of religious and lay persons who have come together to support marginalised, vulnerable and disadvantaged men, women and children. The association, named after Sophia, the Goddess of Wisdom, is a voluntary, non-profit making organisation which provides good quality, affordable housing for low-income people.
Who We Are
Sophia Housing provides an integrated service for women and men who need varying degrees of support and will match the accommodation to people’s needs – from transitional housing to long-term housing and with childcare services for families. Sophia Housing provides support, education and advocacy for vulnerable persons, and assist people in developing their full potential and in taking their rightful place in society.
To support us in carrying out our work, we receive funding from a wide range of sources including the HSE, local authorities, Pobal etc.
