Having spent many years working with homeless people or as I prefer to say ‘’people out of home’’, I greatly desired to find a solution to help people have a better and more equal way of life, in essence to give people a second chance at life.

I saw that it wasn’t sufficient to just put a roof over people’s head. I realised that what people fundamentally needed was a new approach to help break the perpetual cycle of poverty and its associated societal problems.

My vision was to provide holistic transitional housing; that’s a safe, secure and nurturing environment to give people back their dignity and to empower and enable people to make a positive difference in their lives. It’s this vision that led me to establish the Sophia Housing Association in 1999.

Over ten years on and the Sophia Housing Association is delivering this vision on a daily basis, supporting families, children and individuals reach their full potential.

However, in Ireland there are still thousands of people who remain homeless and are at risk of becoming homeless. Help us; help them by supporting the Sophia Housing Association.
